WHAT TO EXPECT
Before Your Visit
- Discontinue the use of any retinoids, exfoliants, or acids 3-5 days prior to your appointment.
- Make sure to inform your provider of any active skin conditions (e.g., cold sores, eczema).
- Avoid sun exposure 1-2 weeks before your appointment.
During Your Visit
- The peel solution will be applied to the skin, causing a tingling or warm sensation that lasts a few minutes.
- You may experience some discomfort, depending on the depth of the peel being used.
- The procedure typically lasts 20-40 minutes, depending on the strength of the peel.
After Your Visit
- Expect peeling to begin within 2-3 days and continue for up to a week.
- Avoid direct sun exposure and always wear SPF 30 or higher.
- For best results, 3-6 peels spaced 4-6 weeks apart may be recommended depending on your skin’s needs.
